I love you thirty-two and a third times

Image
...When the phone rings, I put it to my I know she’s used up all her words, so I slowly whisper I love you thirty-two and a third times. After that, we just sit on the line and listen to each other breathe.

Bittersweet

...we blend it with milk and savor it slowly, forgetting it's the bitter grains that have added character to it.

My Kitchen

Ginger and cinnamon, freshly baked bread. No room for melancholy as I cook up a storm.

Yeh nayan dare dare, yeh jaam bhare bhare, zara peene do, kal ki kisko khabar, ek raat ho ke nidar mujhe jeene do. If music be the food of love, play on.

Amen to that

Ma

The little boy sleeps contented,  Out of harm’s way in the blanket; Loved. Knowing his mother is close by He knows peace, he knows dreams; He is her beloved. He glances at her searching for reassurance Before getting on the school van. And comes back with a bunch of questions; Many hows and whys Awaiting the assurance that he can. Playing on the swing, He believes, He aims high. Knowing he could only fall in her arms, if ever; He grows feeble wings Every time she tells him he can fly. Proud enough not to hold her hand on the way back; Not ashamed but trying to grow up in her shade And yet stepping out of it, every once in a while. A day comes when he runs to his friends, forgets to bid her goodbye. Only to come back home to someone everyday Who stands on the doorstep with a smile.

My Beloved

Let Thy words be my command. Thou art mine indeed. Thou wite my story. As I string words bead by bead. I know not if Thou art my creation or am I thine. There is no longer Thee and me. All that remains is Thee in me. With love to poetry.

I wish

I wish I wish life was a keyboard, with all the keys in place. I wish life was walk to remember, not merely a race. A smile that could wipe away a tear, not merely a mask over every other face. As innocent as a wish upon a shooting star. A hand held that would keep our heart in place. I wish it was a rainbow after the rain, with reasons to live in a million different ways. A promise to keep, not a word of praise. Even if the world was smaller, I wish it was a better place.
