Foot down and Feet up

Long days. Long days are supposed to be fuel for thought but what are we supposed to blame if the otherwise productive days do not lead to any words that could be penned down. A nagging feeling had been telling me from the past few days to take a break. Taking a break and spending time with oneself may not be as overrated as I thought it to be. Well, it inspired me to give a body to my thoughts. A new playlist on the iPod or even a room makeover surprisingly helps clear the clutter clattering in the headspace. A rainy day with music and coffee was delightful and away from everyday chaos. So while I am at and taking a break from monotony, I thought why not pen down this thought today. But, a break should be a short getaway from everyday tedium and not a trip down the road to hibernation. Days might seem even more demanding after an outing; however, when dealt with newly acquired vigour and perspective, testing days can be dealt with ease, eventually making us feel ev...

Being able to search for answers with someone we trust may sometimes be better than finding a solution by ourselves. But finding ourselves is necessary before getting lost with someone and finding a safe place together.

Someday - Maybe today, maybe tomorrow

To be on the same page with a person is definitely rare. Two people may read the same page of the same novel at different points of time but to be able to do that at the same time is beautiful.

Abandoned: End of a beginning?

Innumerable questions pound the walls of our mind. Words in our poem no longer rhyme. Why no one wants to take us home or considers us as their own? Why no one lends a loving hand and lets us suffer on the barren land? We seek neither a roof, nor a stack of grain  Merely the sunshine of care in the season of rain. As a desperate knock interrupts my thoughts, I roll down the glass to be greeted by imploring eyes of a poor child. My heart goes out to her but I cannot help wondering if she has chosen this path out of need or has been forced to do so. I hand her a penny and drive away as the signal turns green. We can reflect upon the condition of the underprivileged children clad in rags or pass our judgement about the misfortune but is that what we call a solution? Gaiety of the childhood has wandered off as the bereaved are left behind to search for remnants on the crowded streets. I had once come across a poor child who was hurrying off from one vehicle ...

What would you choose?

What shall we call the darkness that we see with open eyes? If it is dark, why do we even see it and how? Open eyes or closed, What would you choose now?

Are there any answers?

Image
Aren't we always running after something? What answers are we really searching for? There would be a much simpler world out there only if we let go of self-inflicted hurt and pity. Holding on to the unexplored gives us a false sense of comfort. We want to believe that there might be something out there, something bigger and better than what we already have. Something that would lift the burden of guilt over our wrongdoings, sweeten the bitterness over past and blot out our embarrassments. The day we stop finding faults with ourselves and look forward rather than turning around after every step we task, we may not need any answers. As every day unfolds around us, life becomes easy. We can like it or hate it, but we do not need to keep on peeling the surface till nothing remains. Come to think of it, maybe there are no answers. There is just life — to see and live instead of grappling in the dark.

The Mummy Returns or Gone With the Wind — Rhetorical?

Yet another hot and sweaty day on the not-so-fast lanes of the unsure and speedy life of Delhi where I am sure of I thing — I might be mummified soon. With my printed scarf wrapped around me, I could either suffocate to death, or without the scarf, I could be gone with the wind and the dust. Hot-headed as I am and that too only in summer months, I have learned my way around cheeky strangers — as funny as it sounds, the heat helps and rather expedites my response. Coming back to the dust, yes, I might be mummified soon but a cab is not a good place to breathe — or croak my last. In my workplace right now, with the scarf around my neck, I can breathe again till I step out in Dilli ki garmi .
