Different Faces Desire To Differ

As I pass by a youngster whiling away his life amidst a cloud of smoke I realize the stark reality once again from which I can run but cannot deny. As every face I come across reflects a void I am gripped by an undying fear. A fear that everyone will loose their own selves to lead a fragmented life before it would dawn upon them that they have lost the time to collect their remains. As all that will remain is ash without any ashtray to collect it unlike the ash from their cigarettes. Constantly living in a fear that we would fade away with time, we are compelled to project a veiled self in order to stand out from the rest without discovering that everyone we meet is a mirror of our own selves. Rather than exhibiting and honing our own talents rusting within us, we opt for portraying someone who is not only poles apart but an image of superficiality. Lost in the noise of the discotheques we believe that the noises in our head would go unheard. Drowning in the never ending sea of alcohol is preferred over drowning in miseries. But it is not necessary to drown in either of the two. Everyone is unique and no two people are alike. We can always rise up and above others in our own way with their own potential that others surely desire. Deciding to tread on a path dark and
unknown only because others seem to take another path is mere foolishness as ultimately the one who would lose their way in dark is us and not the other person.

Why don't we prefer to do things in the way we want to rather than going for something different or doing it in some other way that we dislike but in which others seem to show interest. No one is above or below the other as everyone has a different mindset and different way of perceiving the world and only because of varied perceptions and approach today we know about theories as dissimilar as gravity and longevity along with functioning of materials as well as our own brain. We do not need to make an effort to be different as no one is alike and being our own selves without hiding behind any mask is what makes us special. Different faces do not need to put up a mask in order to be different as they already are. Everyone is a character and an integral part of the play of life. Life is not a game to be played. It might be a puzzle but the solution lies in our hands.
