Cursed Apples

Once upon a time in the Garden of Eden there lived Adam and Eve in the shadow of an evil serpent, the evil in disguise whose jealousy introduced them to greed. Since our origin we have been breeding greed. As life began the wheel of greed turned to lead to the birth of more and more Homo sapiens day by day, every moment. The jealousy of the evil serpent remained veiled behind silence and formed the cause that sprouted as the sapling of greed in the heart of Eve. Greed is highly contagious like any other communicative disease and thereby spread to Adam and from then on wards to the generations that followed.

Many a times greed gives rise to jealousy and quite often greed arises from jealousy. They both move on hand in hand as knives equally sharp and hurtful and are known to cause the death of many a conscience.

The philosophy regarding the search for soul mates destined to meet is meant to adorn the parchments found at the back of the drawers of the poets but the fact remains that the companions who fulfill our needs and wants are termed as soul mates. It is a selfish world. The pieces of the puzzle of our life are held together by acts of selfishness. From holding the finger of our parents for the first time to trampling upon others on the way to success and self accomplishment, somewhere greed and somewhere jealousy comes into play. We remain puppets holding the strings instead of being held by them for support so as to avoid falling flat on our faces and exhibiting to the world that we are dependant beings.

We are dependent on each other. We must accept that fact that somewhere deep within we thrive on greed. We need to live, survive and prosper together as one with mutual respect for each other but must tread carefully so as not to trample upon others and trip over in the long run. Intelligence lies in acceptance of the facts that would not fade away with time. We need to stop playing the blame game that started with blaming the cursed apples and continues as the blame is put on circumstances.

  1. Very true. Born in sin, the human race is cursed to repeat Adam's follies eternally. We live and die in hell, but we can still raise our eyes heavenwards and secretly thank God for our blessings and our happiness. The blame should ideally be directed towards our own damned selves. Maybe then all the hate will turn into love.
