A Fossil

A fossil.
A fossil is all that remains embedded under the surface,
until the rocks above are lifted up.
To come across all that lies enveloped at the base.
Remnants of what once was.
Fragments of the past.
The one that was lost yesterday would be preserved with the embedded faults.
Ironically, the present would remain unnoticed till it breathes its last
to gradually degrade into a fossil.

Abandoned: End of a beginning?

Innumerable questions pound the walls of our mind. Words in our poem no longer rhyme. Why no one wants to take us home or considers us as their own? Why no one lends a loving hand and lets us suffer on the barren land? We seek neither a roof, nor a stack of grain  Merely the sunshine of care in the season of rain. As a desperate knock interrupts my thoughts, I roll down the glass to be greeted by imploring eyes of a poor child. My heart goes out to her but I cannot help wondering if she has chosen this path out of need or has been forced to do so. I hand her a penny and drive away as the signal turns green. We can reflect upon the condition of the underprivileged children clad in rags or pass our judgement about the misfortune but is that what we call a solution? Amidst the music of the days I was lost as a song And Life seemed to be awfully long Dancing to the tunes of the globe Thought I was being right always wrong And Life seemed to be awfully long Lost as a song.. Seeking shelter from the rain I missed the rainbow Closed the doors as joyous raindrops came knocking upto me The saplings climbed up on the staircase of the blue sky But the ladder of success was all that I could see On the rocky road I could have walked a mile In this bargain my friends I lost my smile In the music of life lost as a song Life seems to be awfully long..
